Our town water has won the "Best Water in New York State" for years. Our water quality is great and tastes good, too. But sometimes, you wonder, "Is it really?" I'm sure that I would need a more scientific tester than this one, but to just get a reading on Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) this meter would work. TDS is the total weight of all minerals, salts or metals that are dissolved in a volume of water, (mg/L). The lower the mg/L, the better hydrated you body will be with the water you drink. The higher the mg/L, there is a probability of greater contaminants.The maximum level by the EPA is 500 mg/L or 500PPM. Our town water read 135 mg/L, so I guess we do have great water quality.
