I so much wanted to try this out in the rain, but alas, no rain for a week. This umbrella is an automatic open and closer. Undo the strap, push the button and snap! The umbrella opens and it's huge, well, at least larger than I expected. You can tell by the pictures how big it is. I like the depth (or height) of the covering part. It comes down over rather than straight out like other umbrellas, giving more shoulder protection. When you push the button to close it, you have that same snap...and then it's down. All you need to do next is, push the top of it back towards the handle, tuck in the cloth and strap it back. The storage case has a nice large opening so you don't have to fight to put it back into the sleeve and fasten the Velcro closure. This is a great umbrella.
