Silicone is my new favorite material for kitchen ware. It's not that I don't like my ice maker but in the frostless freezers, that we have these days, the cubes tend to disappear if they aren't used soon after being made. I filled up the cube tray and snapped on the silicone lid, placing it in the freezer section. I just pulled it out and the water was frozen solid but hadn't adhered to the silicone tray. They easily came out with a little pressure on the back side. The cubes are ample size and I liked it that they were mostly clear instead of opaque. By using the covers, the ice doesn't absorb any freezer odors. I don't like the freezer burn odor that comes with the regular trays or an ice maker.
